The Eastside climbs hard. McKinley Hill sits at the steep end of a ridge above the tideflats, with Craftsman homes built after the streetcar line arrived in 1903. Much of the rest filled in during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s for railroad, wartime and port workers, and Salishan was rebuilt starting in 2002 with newer homes bordered by Swan Creek Park.
