Gutter work for the Craftsman and Tudor homes of Proctor and the North Slope
Tacoma’s North End is the oldest housing in the territory. Between 62 and 79 percent of the homes in Proctor, Old Town and the North Slope were built before 1980, most of them between 1900 and 1940: Craftsman bungalows, Tudors and foursquares with steep pitches, deep eaves, wood fascia and long runs that were designed for one or two downspouts. The street trees are a century old, so big-leaf maple drops flowers in spring, seed in summer and leaf in autumn, Douglas fir and cedar drop needles all year, and the shaded north slopes hold moss through 37 to 40 inches of rain.
Maintenance is most of the work here: trough cleaned by hand, downspouts flushed, moss pulled out of the gutter, on a twice-a-year schedule if you want one. When a system is at the end of its life, we form seamless aluminum on site to follow the roofline and size it for the rain. We repair sagging hangers and leaking seams, and we fit BroGuard fine mesh where needles and maple seed have beaten every screen. Locally owned by Jamie and Zeke, who grew up here, and part of a gutter-only franchise founded in 1999.

Why the Brothers
Why North End and Proctor Homeowners Call the Brothers
A 1915 Craftsman deserves a gutter that follows the roofline and looks like it belongs. We form seamless runs on site to the exact length and check the fascia before we hang a thing.
Long North End runs were often built with one downspout at the far end. We add outlets where the water actually collects, so the trough stops spilling at the low corner.
Proctor gutters take a maple drop in spring, summer and autumn plus needles all year. BroGuard fine mesh keeps it out of the trough and you off the ladder.
Locally owned by two people raised in Tacoma, backed by a franchise that has only done gutters since 1999. If the answer is two hangers and a clean, that is the quote.

Often, yes. Corner leaks and sagging spots are usually hangers and sealant, not the whole run. We check what the gutter is hanging on, because a soft fascia is the real problem behind many North End leaks. If the metal is still sound we repair it. If it is rusted through or too small for the roof, we tell you that plainly.
Big-leaf maple sheds three times a year, flower in spring, seed in summer and leaf in autumn, and the firs never stop. Twice a year is the floor for Proctor, Old Town and the North Slope: late autumn and spring. Homes under a big maple usually want a third visit, or fine mesh so the trough stays clear between them.
Yes. Seamless aluminum is formed on site to the exact length of each run, so there are no mid-run joints and the line stays clean along a deep eave. We size the profile to the roof, keep the pitch subtle so it does not read as crooked, and match the color to the trim as closely as we can.
Almost always too few outlets. A lot of these homes have a forty-foot run draining to one downspout at the far corner. In a real storm the trough fills faster than that outlet can take it and spills at the low point. Adding a second downspout where the water collects fixes it without replacing the run.
They handle both. The mesh openings are smaller than a fir needle, so needles and the winged maple seed sit on top, dry out and blow off. Coarse screens let needles through and let seed wedge in the gaps. With BroGuard on a North End roof you still want a quick look after the autumn drop, but the ladder stays in the garage.
