Gutters for the older homes around Proctor and North 26th
The Proctor District is the small-town business district at Proctor Street and North 26th in Tacoma’s North End, named for architect John G. Proctor. Allen C. Mason developed much of the land and ran the first streetcar out of downtown through Proctor to Point Defiance, and the Blue Mouse Theatre, open since 1923, is the oldest continuously operating movie theater in Washington. The homes around it are old: in the two census tracts that cover Proctor and its residential blocks, 38 percent were built before 1940 and 68 percent before 1960, and 78 percent are detached houses. Big street trees, moss on shaded roofs and about 41 inches of rain a year keep gutters here busy.
The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Tacoma is owned by Jamie and Zeke Edwards, a husband-and-wife team serving the South Sound and South King County. Around Proctor we clean and flush gutters, scrape moss off the roof edge, replace old patched runs with seamless aluminum formed on-site, repair leaks at corners and over porches, install BroGuard stainless micro-mesh, replace rotted fascia and reroute downspouts away from basements and foundations. Licensed (WA L&I #BRTHRBT745J1) and insured, with a 5.0 Google rating.
Older North End houses tend to share the same weak spots: gutters that have been patched for decades, fascia that softened behind years of overflow and downspouts that empty right next to a basement wall. We look at the whole roofline on the walkthrough and fix the cause, not just the clog.

Why the Brothers
Why Proctor District Homeowners Call the Brothers
Century-old trim needs a careful hand. We fit new seamless runs to the roofline you have and replace soft fascia before anything goes up.
Plenty of North End homes have basements. We move downspouts and add underground drainage so roof water ends up well away from the walls.
Craftsman rooflines break into short sections over porches, bays and dormers. We gutter every piece so no corner drips on the front steps.

Yes. We measure every eave and form seamless aluminum runs on-site to the exact length, so they follow the roofline you have instead of forcing stock pieces onto it. If the fascia behind the old gutters is soft, we replace it before the new runs go up. Copper and bonderized steel are options too if you want a look closer to the original house.
Often they are the cause. A clogged run, a leaking corner or a downspout that empties right at the wall can send roof water straight down beside the foundation. We clean and flush the system, fix the leaks and move or extend downspouts, or connect them to an underground drainage line that carries the water away from the house.
Most homes here do well with two cleanings a year, one in late fall after the leaves are down and one in spring. Homes under big street trees or firs may need a third. BroGuard micro-mesh cuts that down a lot, and our maintenance program puts the visits on the calendar for you.
Yes. Moss grows fast on shaded North End roofs and washes into the gutters as grit and clumps that clog downspouts. During a cleaning we clear the moss we can reach along the roof edge and in the trough, flush the downspouts and point out spots where moss is building up so you can stay ahead of it.
Yes. Every estimate is free and in writing, with no sales pitch. Call (253) 777-1572 or book online and a Solutionist will look at the roofline, downspouts and drainage before giving you a price.
