Quick answer
Gutter services in West Slope, WA: The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Tacoma installs seamless aluminum, copper and bonderized steel gutters, formed on-site, on West Slope homes above the Tacoma Narrows. Most houses here are 1940s to 1960s ranches and mid-century moderns with low-pitched or flat roofs and long eaves, so we size outlets for fast runoff, hand-clean fir and maple debris, repair tired joints, fit BroGuard micro-mesh and replace rotted fascia. West Slope Gutter Solutionists
Gutters for West Slope’s mid-century rooflines
The West Slope runs downhill from Jackson Avenue toward the Tacoma Narrows, between Sixth Avenue and South 19th Street. Once the Narrows Bridge opened in 1940 the hillside became an easy commute, and in 1943 Eivind Anderson bought about 259 acres from the C. B. Wright estate. His Narrowmoor additions were recorded in 1944 and 1947 and filled in over the next two decades with ranches, brick bungalows and post-and-beam moderns on terraced lots that look out at the bridge and the Olympics.
Those rooflines are where the gutter work comes from. Low-pitched gables and hips feed long, horizontal eave runs, and the flat and built-up gravel roofs on the modern houses drain to just a few points. The state survey of the area dates 47 percent of Narrowmoor’s houses to the 1950s, so plenty of fascia boards here are past 65 years old. With about 42 inches of rain a year at the nearest NOAA station on the Narrows, one clogged outlet means overflow on the downhill side. We replace soft fascia board first, then hang one-piece runs with outlets sized for the roof above them.
Jamie and Zeke Edwards own The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Tacoma together as husband and wife, and both were raised in the South Sound. On the West Slope our crew hand-cleans gutters, clears downspouts down to the drain line, repairs or replaces worn systems and installs BroGuard micro-mesh where firs and maples hang over the eaves. We also work across the West End, over in University Place and up the hill in Fircrest, and every job starts with a free written estimate.

Why the Brothers
Why West Slope Homeowners Call the Brothers
Low-pitched and flat roofs behave differently in heavy rain. We size the trough and outlets to the roof, not to a catalog.
A seamless run formed in your driveway spans the long eave of a West Slope ranch without the joints that start most leaks.
Firs and maples along the ravines shed most of the year. BroGuard and a set schedule keep the outlets flowing.

Year-round
Your West Slope gutter calendar
A year of gutter work on West Slope rooflines, timed to the leaf drop and the long wet season off the Narrows.
- Fall · Sep to NovLeaf drop and outlet check
Maples drop in October. We clear the troughs and test every outlet before November, which averages 7.18 inches nearby.
- Winter · Dec to FebOverflow fixes
Winter rain shows where a low roof overruns its gutter. We fix leaks, reset hangers and note fascia to replace in summer.
- Spring · Mar to MaySpring clean and mesh
Catkins, cones and winter grit come out, and it is a good time to add BroGuard where the trees refilled the gutters fast.
- Summer · Jun to AugFascia and new runs
July averages 0.68 inches at the Narrows station, so summer is when we replace fascia and install new seamless systems.

They worked with me, giving me options on the locations and directions of the downspouts, explaining the pros and cons of each option. It can. Low-slope roofs send water to the eave more slowly but across longer runs, and many mid-century houses here have wide overhangs and only a couple of downspouts. We measure the roof area that drains to each run, then size the gutter and add or enlarge outlets so the trough empties during a heavy November storm instead of spilling over.
Flat and built-up roofs on the modern West Slope houses usually drain through a few scuppers or edge outlets, so one clogged spot backs water up across the roof. We clear gravel and debris from those outlets, fit a properly sized gutter or collector where the roof drains, and check that the downspout carries the water away from the house.
Two cleanings a year handles most homes, one after the maples drop in fall and one in late winter or spring. Lots that back onto the wooded ravines or sit under tall firs often need a third visit. Our maintenance program books those visits for you, and BroGuard micro-mesh cuts down how often they are needed.
Even trimmed yards collect needles and leaves blowing in from the ravines and neighbors’ trees. BroGuard’s fine stainless mesh keeps that debris on top, where wind and rain move most of it off, while water passes through. If your roof only sees light debris, a cleaning schedule may be enough, and we will tell you so.
Yes. Besides the West Slope and Narrowmoor, we work around Titlow, across Tacoma’s West End and next door in University Place and Fircrest. Call (253) 777-1572 or book online and our local crew will set up a free written estimate.
